War Council Meeting

Post by Rahjin »

Due to the fact that i could not figure out a way to put the time frame IC i chose the OOC method of getting the times out to everyone......The first war council meeting will be held in Dragon Dale at 1200 noon EST. I am still working out where and i will update that once i find out. Everyone in the Dale is welcome, but i ask that people keep the talking out of turn to a minimum so that it's not an all day thing. (i know some people have IC reasons for being disruptive, but some of us have limited time to be on.) This meeting is just to get a few things set and DISCUSS strategy, not ARGUE Looking forward to seeing you guys there, and as i said i will post the location once i know myself.
Apparently there was already a meeting. Pera got a lot of good info from Karn, but perhaps someone who was there would like to post the results in the "In Character Discussions" board?

I believe the day was Saturday. I haven't confirmed it with Trent, though. Also, what Karn was talking about was what was covered in the first meeting and some ideas for how to fight the big fight. He wanted you all to come to the meeting with the chance to think and make proposals at the main meeting.

Proposals made by Trent:

1. We, the players, will guard the three major gates of Dragon Dale.
2. We'll remain outside the gates to guard them from being hacked apart in the attack.
3. We're not sure of the composition of the attacking forces. Very likely they'll be Goblin, Bugbear, Worg, and Drow. The Gurok may or may not be involved. It's hard to say, though.
4. We'll need five groups: two of archers, one of healers, one main group with the overal leader, and the 'fire brigade' that rushes from battle to battle where needed most.
5. We'll need leaders for each group (Karn has already started asking folks to organize the group based on their expertise in these areas, they may end up being the leaders of the groups once the decision has been made). Corvus and Elrith are organizing the archers. I'm hoping Lady Julisette will be the healer's leader.
6. Trent got this information from speaking with the Mayor of Dragon Dale, based on indications received from a scout of the Bugbear Camp. An army about 100-strong almost surrounded us there, and they remain a threat to the area, including the Ranger Camp. Elrith and Corvus spoke with Isendur, the elf in charge of the Ranger Camp, and he indicated that they would aid in the defense of the Dale, by making attacks against the main body of the enemy forces in the Forest. This army may have magical help, since we believe that it was able to move past the Rangers without notice.

Karn has made some further suggestions:
1. We have to consider the terrain when making our defense of the Dale. Certain areas, like the cliff overlooking the lake in southern Dragon Dale require a force to prevent the Goblins from using it to their advantage. Cliffs are also more easily defensible, especially with archers.
2. We will ask the DMs, whether we can use the 'shout' channel for horn calls to signal the approach of, combat with, and need for assistance with enemy forces. We could post a message like *you hear two long and one short notes on a bugle from the direction of the north gate* to signal the approach of the enemy to the north gate.
3. We should consider the number of forces when considering the number of groups. (actually, perado made this one I think.)

Some further suggestions I didn't have time to make:
1. We should gather healing potions, medkits/poultices, healer's beads for use by the non-healers as needed, since the healers will be stretched thin, likely.
2. We will likely need large stocks of ammunition, so we should consider areas for storing arrows, bolts, bullets, throwing axes near the gates.

This is about as much as I can remember/think of this morning. Post your comments, if you got any.
I hope it is saturday... since I would hate to have people to decide upon either this VERY important meeting, and the evening in Vesper.

And contrary to many beliefs I guess, Innuvindyl would very much like to attain this meeting, but it seems I cannot
Sorry about that....i was thinking saturday in my head but didn't write it.....so yes saturday Jan 10th between 12 noon and 2pm EST that is the plan....To Karn: that was the plan all along, but for IC reasons i was going to leave that until the actual meeting. If everyone can come that would be great, if not that's ok someone will fill you in. Just don't ask trent to..he is a HORRIBLE story teller. That is part of his character (lore is 0) So if you ask Trent to fill you in he will probably refer you to someone else. BUt if you can make it that would be great.
I think the large question many will eventually have if they havent allready, would be once this first meeting is conducted, where are our weaknesses.

Vald is a good archer from what Corvus has said, but if we need more healers, maybe it would be best for Hernes to be there.

And it appears that I will be there after all, since Disneyland has been nixed as of this moment. sucks though that you guys are starting so early, but I understand why. Vald will be there for the meeting.
Here is what we need form the players before this can begin to go forward:

Three mid sized defensive groups should be organized. Each group should be organized as one would organize an adventuring party. There should be fighters, healers, archers, and so on. Please organize these groups by level. We don't want to see any first level characters mixed in with sixth level characters, and we want to give the low level characters a part in this too.

Each of the three groups will be needed to defend one of the three main gates - North, South, and West. I am thinking perhaps six or so PC defenders at each gate.

Each group must have an appointed leader.

If there are enough characters to form more than three groups, then there may be jobs for pairs to move between groups performing specific tasks.

More info will follow as needed.

Eh... I don't know if this is too early to ask...

But when are we supposed to actually defend the gates ? - will it be a continuing event spreading over several weeks or will it be a single weekend etc.?

Because I would like to join one of the groups, but I need to know time etc. to plan ahead, and make sure that I can actually be there!
