Sir.

I´m Donall Siger.. A paladin of Torm, who have just come back to this area after a short Visit to the Temple of Torm.

I saw on a note that the known thief Ruben have stolen again. And have spoken with a noble follower of Lathander named Kastion, Who says that Ruben have admittet the theft.

The thief stole on the road from Vesper to Dragon Dale. So none of the town laws can be used to bring the thief to jail.

I´m only a young paladin who came here to lern from the Paladin Caano. And I´m not sure what to do about the thief.
Caano is not to be found, so I hope you can guide me.

What shall I as a paladin do about the thief and what will the Temple do.

I also bring the Temple a warning.... A elf from the Ranger camp named Calduin told me that he and his friends have sworn to protect the thief.

Maybe its a good idea to ask Isendur about the elf and his friends who protect a known thief.

Hernes considered the many notes before finally deciding on one to reply to:

Good Donall and fellow brother of the ARM OF TORM,

I, Hernes, a pilgrim of Torm, give you great welcome and hope to give you council as well regarding this sensitive subject.

I can understand how you may believe that we must step in where justice is lacking in a situation such as this. However, I ask you to stay your sword until you have heard from all subjects regarding this situation. Torm himself would achieve all the information before passing judgement, and this is no exception to the common writ. Lay not your hand on the sword till you know full well of its implications.

Go to this Ruben, and ask him his reasons if not his crime. Ask if he is willing to absolve himself for such a crime. Ask his victem if he is willing to acheive the absolution for this crime. Counsel the victem that the bounty he has decided to put on this persons head is not his to place, but rather the churchs'. Death is not the answer to this crime.

Being a young paladin, I know you feel the need to do service for Torm immediately. Such is not his way. Achieve the service to your lord by learning all before bringing him to the temple for absolution.

Peace to you brother,
Re: The Temple in Vesper (Ruben)
Donall, always remember, as a paladin, you are called to uphold order and protect the innocent. The good law of our community is your tool in doing this, and if you step outside of the law, then you shatter the tool.
