Because it seemed to me that you had to have martial weapon proficiency to use the pick. Did I miss something?
No, you did not miss anything, the pick requires martial weapon feat. I don't see many characters other than the big and burly types having an in character tendency to mine anyway, and if it is that central to a character's personality, then they can take the feat. If I am thinking correctly, only druids are unable to take Martial, and being able to mine is not an issue with them.

That is correct, it will not be as simple as before (would everyone just automatically be a master tailor?)
.

Nope. But I still found it nice, that one could customize his/her starting clothes to fit the character (adding bracers, removing shoes etc).

But I guess, that is merely one of the few thumbs down with the system, which in the large picture, I guess, isn't that important...

You could still take the tailoring skill to at least open up the possibility, you may not be very successful in your attempts without skill points, but it would allow the attempts.

You could also ask a PC tailor for help, I know of at least one who focuses on that skill.

Yes, I know... I know... but what I meant, was that even before the character really enters the world, I personally, like to alter my cloth to look as much as I imagine my character.

There is now a smithing crafter's hall in RVL East, it contains a blacksmith forge, and weapon and armor anvils, as well as common smithing supplies. A handful of the abandoned mines now contain minable rock, and more will be developed with subsequent updates.

second that motion and something else...

Yeah, it would be nice to know. we (Tangar as our leader, Sul providing tracking, Ginnia and Zato as musle and Ludgush to look pretty) spent a great deal of time looking and rumbling for little reward for a afternoon quest for ore. some of the caves that we do know about are usually in fairly hostile territory for the very junior folk (and you guys seems to not like us when we older folk do this ourself, going in hostile turf looking for trouble)

Edited out off topic content.

And a side note. when we got back to town, we never received any RP xp for our efforts
Oh, but as it is in general, it is very hard to get RP xp for something when a DM is not around. I am quite certain, that had a DM been looming around and you RPed well, then you would also have gotten your reward...

Many of us spend hours, and hours RPing without reward... actually some of my very best RP has been when no DMs was around, do I shout up? - no. Why? - because I know that is how it works, no DM no RP xp... plain and very simple. If you think you deserved some RP xp for the trip, send the crew a PM instead of calling it out under a topic relating to something completely different... and now, back on topic :)

. . .

Sure more of these trips could prove interesting excursions, and with my new character I look forward to these :)

Please keep your comments strictly on topic here, I will be deleting and/or editing out portions of posts that ramble, thank you.

As I said, look in old mines. I also mentioned there were only a handful of them so far.

Hello,

I spent too many hours looking for ores in mines. I explored north of Dragon Dale and I found lots of abandoned mines: Dragon Valley, Quarry Road Badlands, The Quarry and a couple others i can't remember the name.
No ore in them.

Cheers,

I checked the mines north of DD before the update.
I re-checked some of the mines north of DD yesterday, after the update.
By no means all of the mines, I guess.
The result was the same: no ore, nice walking, discovering places never seen before.
BTW, I've found a shortcut to the Old Quarry, ask Berlin Thunderstruck IG :p

Re: Confirmed: there are mines with ore

Hi all,

Finally, i found one mine with mineable rocks that produce ore.
I won't reveal here its location; you can ask Berlin Thunderstruck in game, but he is a greedy dwarf. lol However, I will say that AG doesn't wants lonely 1-4 lvl characters doing mining... It took Berlin a lot of stealth to enter the mine and to work undiscovered by the "residents".

Cheers,
