you can buy full plate today. there are several companies making it to order. But a real full set, not just one that looks like a full set must be hand manufactured to that individual, and even using modern industrial techniques (and if you've ever tried to raise steel with a leather face hammer or work with a clinker style smelting furnace you understand what a huge difference this makes) still start at over 5k. also due to the hand made nature, making them no drop might be appropriate, as no one else would fit in it. I don't know how this affects death though it may be impossible.
