Calling All Brave Heroes of Dragon Dale!

As you pass by the Wayfarer, you see a note tacked up on the side of the topmost barrel. It reads, in sketchy Thorass script:
Calling All Brave Heroes of Dragon Dale!
Oi Dalelanders, Ruben ere. On a recent delve into the caverns beneath The Gash, we foun a series of connected tunnels that ranged quite far to the west below Gurok turf. From what little we saw, the tunnels led down a couple o' levels cross numerous winding shafts typical of a mine. Battle-ready Orks, though few and far between, halted our team's progress, though not before we discovered a passage that poked up again deep in enemy grounds. Just about wher the bridge is on the olde quarry track...
I say it's high time we fin out just what these slimeballz er minin, and how deep these halls go! To that end, I'm lookin fer a company o' delvers that do well in dark spaces and know how to split an Ork er three. The ones that came wid me might ave more to tell ye: ther was the bowman Milton, the gnome Indar o' Torm, and an excitable hin named Fram. Watch yer coinpurse aroun that last one!
-----------------------------------------------------------
OOC: I'd like to organize this quest soon. It doesn't have to be just one trip down there, either. To get the ball rolling, I suggest late next week; a weeknight is cool with me. Thursday or Friday? This will give the DMs a week to cook something up, if they aren't too busy.

*the following is written in a flowing, graceful script*
Corvus and I have explored the tunnels you speak of, so, of course, I'll join the expedition. The orcs have been more prominent on the road north, as well, and perhaps we may gain some insight into the reason, if any, for said surgence.

Cherie gladly reads the notes to Lugdush, who then asks her to relay the message that he is interested, not bothered by dark places, and would really like a chance to bash the orcs with his warhammer.
OOC: I'm in, if I can get online at the appropriate times.

Zato walks up and reads the note, and responds:
I was part of Ruben's expedition. As Ruben has mentioned, we encountered few orcs, in fact we were able to explore the tunnels thoroughly before the attacks were sprung on us. It appears they may be mining deeper and deeper, becoming an eminent threat.
I too wish to return to the mines. The intentions of the orcs are unknown. They were hostile to us when they found us. The fact that the gash is so close to Dragon Dale is worrisome as well. May Ilmater's mercy be upon us. I only hope that no violence comes from our next expedition...
OOC: Thursday and Friday night sounds good to me. Although Friday may be better. This way people, whether or work or school, can be on for the trip. If we get enough people, we could possibly even split up into teams... although that might be getting too elaborate. Anyway, I'd love to go back, since the initial trip there was so much fun.

OOC: Actually, two groups would most likely be a good idea; orcs are by no means an easy foe; if enough "more experienced" characters express an interest, the expedition could be split and hopefully the more stiff resistance could be applied to the more powerful group. For the record, the last known scout into orc territory (before the tunneling, that is) met with disaster, as I've been told by various sources.

OOC:
Just throwing some more ideas in there, though this is the IC thread. But I had just one more thought.
Perhaps the groups shouldn't neccessarily be split into "super group" and "newbie group". For instance, if this thing were to happen, and we made groups, I'd forsee the level 5 group having quite the tough exciting battle, and then the level 2-3 group kind of sauntering about, spending more time running away.
I wouldn't say we should force certain kinds of characters together even if they wouldn't match, but perhaps some effort should be made to intertwine the various cliques. The storyline being that only certain members actually remember the layout of the tunnels, etc.
but that's all assuming that this thing would happen. Enough OOC crap from me. I'll just cross my fingers.

OOC:
I believe (DM's correct me if I'm wrong) that it's much easier for a DM to set up an encounter to a similarly leveled party. Thus keying something up for a 5th-7th level party is easier than stimulating something for a 2nd-6th level party. With such a broadly powered party, encounters tend to be too easy for the higher level characters or too hard for the lowers. As far as Newbie group vs. Super group, being low level doesn't make one a "newbie," nor does being high level make you a pro. I am by no means suggesting we make a dream team and then have the lower levels just nip at their heels; I'm suggesting a slight separation for the sake of the DM's.
As I understand it, it was mostly mid to lower level characters on this expedition with Ruben, so one could just elect to make this a mid to lower level scout, though with orcs involved, I'd say that's not a good idea.
