A Call to Arms

*A note hung in the Wayfarer and posted in the Camp; printed in large block letters by a firm hand*
The Crimson Company seeks strong souls to aid in the defense of the Dale. We plan to strike against the hobgoblins in their lair. Seek a member of the Company if you are willing to aid the cause.

Paul Smithson
OOC: This is an open call for all levels. In keeping with past efforts against the goblins, we plan to go big. Volunteers will be sorted (by the Companies very own Lord Commander Militant, the Grim Reaper himself, Caine Hodges, with ample aid by his jovial, fat sidekick, Paul Smithson) into groups and assigned tasks within their ability.
The prime team will try and get deep into the warrens to disable the hobgoblins teleportation system, or at least gain some info on it.
Other teams will secure the entrances, scour the woodlands of the green menace and perhaps hit secondary targets for information on what the hobs are up to.
Tentative date for this event is 23 Sept. at 1900 EST (7:00 PM).
Date is subject to change based on feedback.
Patrol...

If there's a task simple enough you'd trust Nev not to screw it up he's in for Saturday... Barring anything coming up. ((Place him as tentative as certain family obligations may change my plans completely for that weekend.))

*aramil enters the wayfarer with his average scowl, he heads straight for the notice area and looks over it slowly, pushing aside some notices and stopping to read some of note, upon reaching this one he takes some time considering it. His hand moves to his back as if to scratch an itch but he quickly moves it and adds a bit of parchment with his name at the bottom in clear and practiced writing*

((due to family event, I will be unable to attend on the posted saturday))

*Paul walks into the Wayfarer and removes the parchment with a sharp snap of his wrist. The parchment tears from the nail and is quickly crumpled into a ball by his meaty fist. He mutters to himself as he heads back out the door, tossing the parchment into the barrel outside on his way toward the gate*
*OOC: Folks, for the time being, I'm placing this on hold. Some issues have to be addressed. I'll try and get this back on track at a later date. Sorry to those that got excited about it. My priest of Helm, Brent Thatcher, will probably be looking for some help for some minor activities around the same time this was scheduled. If you're low level and looking for something to do, seek him out this weekend.

At this point Paul is exploring options. There have been limited discussions and some planning that has yet to bear fruit. Anyone interested should stay tuned.

Why not break it up by task and then look to separate organizations within the Vast to handle those areas? You get more involvement from all the classes that way. Plus, those folks who don't fit with organizations can be wooed by a couple different groups, if necessary.
What could the Druids/Rangers be doing? What could the Triad Temple be doing? The Crimson Company? The independents?
Further recommendation is to avoid open discussion at the wellyard. You might find folks who start pushing for an invasion of the Warrens then and there, which means having to explain to them 'why not.'
And you can start a new book on the 'vermin.' Nothing worse than being locked into old methods. Plus, leave room for generic scouts that hunt up goblins, without leading directly to the attack. Have fun practicing dealing with encounters, etc.

Well, enough of me babbling on. Hyde213, Reason, the rest of the 'Crimson gang,' enjoy yourself with this. I'll be watching to see what small part Jherel can play.
