IC: Invitation Posted at the Wayfarer and Dragon's Reach

Post by Cafall »

Forgathering

We will hold a forgathering to celebrate the onset of the winter months in a tenday. All, from within the towns and without, are invited to join the celebration, feasting and remembrance of our pasts in this land. It will not be held at the Landing or Dale, however; the four of us (Quinn, Siril, Matijandra, and Corvus) invite all to attend the forgathering at the Lodge, built at the foot of the Earthspur Mountains.

The Bonfire
We hope to not only feed everyone before the harder months come upon us, but also to remind each other of our own past. Not everyone need participate in everything, but we ask everyone to come bearing a lighted torch from wherever they begin their journey to the Forgathering, in order to light the winter Bonfire. Any groups around the region who wish to would honor us by bearing a torch from the hearths of their halls.

Also, if you have a story of old to tell or a memory to share, of yourself or perhaps a friend who has passed, this is a place to bring it! There will be plenty of room at the Bonfire for all to tell theirs.

Tradesmen
There will be a feast, as well as wares to be traded and contests for all to enjoy. Anyone who wishes can bring wares to sell. Matijandra has offered to help point buyers and sellers toward each other throughout the fair; you can simply let her know what wares your are selling or looking for.

Competitions
We hope to hold several competitions for everyone to join in if they wish. An obstacle course around the woods will be set up for competitors to test their strength, balance, endurance and sense of judgement. We will also have an axe-throwing contest and a tournament of quarterstaves to practice our skills with each other. If you would care to join one of these contests, simply put your name down below along with what you wish to compete in.

We hope this will be a day to remember in the coming rainy seasons.

(( OOC: The fair will be held on January the 7th, this coming Sunday starting at 3 PM EST. There may be a little chat time while we wait for the bulk of attendees to arrive before we start the big competitions.))

Ample space is left on the parchment below the message for signatures, except for a small map to the site of the forgathering below. It looks like one would have to travel a little north of the Crescent Ridge, then travel east up the cliffs until one entered the Aldarra Woods. From there, the path appears to follow a stream southward to the Lodge itself.

*in small, neat print*

I will bear a torch from the Temple Triad to your Lodge in the north. I may have some interest in the staves competition.

If any wish for company for the trip, seek me out in the Temple.

*the bird twitters as it lands perched on a tall aspen a few feet away from the cabins entrance. It chirps a bit more then drops off the simple scroll of birch bark on the front stoop.

Children of the Wood,

I will bear a torch from the hearth of the woods. I shall bring herb and plant from my gardens and game from the eastern wood. May the Gods smile upon this day.

I'd like to come bearing tales and a torch for the Rowenshore family. I won't be able to get way up there alone, though!

OOC planning information:

We will be meeting at the wellyard at 3pm EST on Sunday January 7th, and will guide those gathered from there to the lodge.
The Crimson Company has graciously offered additional escort services after this time.

If there are specific events you would like to participate in, we have started informal lists. Let us know in post or in game.

OOC:

By the way, if any are confused by the initial map we posted, just ask one of us in-game or through PMs and we'll tell you the route. We can all just assume that the map is an easier read for our characters than it might be for our players; there's only so much you can do with Photoshop and a shaky mousehand. ;)

Also, it's probably too late to emphasize letting us know what your character is interested in competing in, butwe were just hoping to have the info in hand for scaling purposes anyway. It's no big deal. Still, if you can, go ahead and let us know so we know who to wait for.

I should note right now that the word on the street is that DM attendance will be uncertain. If there isn't one, the only thing we'll have to cut out of the party is the staff fights; everything else we advertised in the invitation will go ahead without them. It's sad, but what can you do.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Just a simple: Thanks to all the folks that got involved. It was a blast for all, I'm sure:). Not in the least because of the great efforts put up by the rangers to make it all happen, but also to the CC to help out and Onomat for seeing things through at the various games and adding even more *spice* to the event.

Guys..this was a FEAST:)

I second and third all that. It was awsome, and well thought out. Specially al lthe events, they were fun to watch! (and participate in!)

I'm sorry though, I showed up late...I would have loved to have Mace do what he said he would have and had been there, but with olden age, comes forgetfulness, and we all know how old Mace is....right? right?

Great fun everybody. It was good to see the characters relaxed and enjoying themselves. As we all know they deserve some fun now and then.

Good roads to you all,

See you IG.

*nods* I agree, this was an excellent event. Thanks to all who worked to put it together.

I know in the past the server has held more, but today was the most I have seen...24 players on when I first logged in. That's wonderful, and a testament to the vitality of this server.
